hi again,

okay. so i've been spending the past week doing virtual nonstop research, brainstorming, planning trips to film festivals, reading, etc.

obviously the best way to get started is to actually START, and now that i've gotten my lazy butt off the couch, i'm reading to start filmming, possibly just a segment of a feature i wrote, or possibly filming a short film. let's say i'm filming this to get a general idea of how much i'm capeable of, and possibly to show potential comrades for future projects.

living in an artistically challanged suburban neighborhood with no car, and virtually no money, i'm having a lot of difficutly finding a DP. i think i want to just shoot some footage myself. i have no cinematography experience, no editing experience, and a crappy digital video camera i use to shoot home videos of my dogs and birthday parties and such.

so basically my question is: what now?

If you are wanting to become a camera operator then I would say the best place to start is to 'find' your shooting style.

Go out and shoot a load of footage of different subjects - people, landscapes, cars, just about anything. Go back to your house and evaluate your shoot - see what's hot and what's not.

If you are new to the game investing in a load of kit isn't really a good road to go down.

Find your style.

Hope that helps.
