Our feature-length indie film calls for horses in the script for a few scenes. Let us say that our DP or maybe our Producer owns horses. What processes are involved for being able to use his horses in the film?

If the horses are owned by one of your cast and crew, there probably isn't anything to worry about if the person is happy for you to use them.

However, if you were really worried about it, you could get them to sign an agreement to allow you to use the horses in the film, and to outline that you as the producer are not obligated to compensate the owner in any way, shape, or form.
