Hi everyone. I am basically just starting out & have been scribbling ideas down, or short stories for a good 5 years now. However, i don't have much experience with equipment other than a JVC digital video camera and Microsoft MovieMaker! (I know i have a LOT to learn) I am looking around for a part time college course, but seem to have missed the boat again for at least another 6 months. Can anyone suggest some better software and a decent camera? Also i have major trouble with my capture software when i connect my camera to my PC - I use Pixela ImageMixer. I can't seem to find any other thats compatible with my Video Camera. Anyone who can give me some advice would be doing a great deed! If you've read this far, you're a star! Cheers
My suggestion would be to start with a great screenplay before you worry about cameras. Depending upon classes and the folks you run into the camera question might resolve itself. Until then you've got 6 months to really hammer down a decent script or two.
Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I think getting a camera is a great idea. It never hurts to learn everything there is to learn. I
owned a camera long before I ever wrote my first script. I even made a bunch of movies
without ever writing a script.
I can't help you with editing software. I'm a Mac user and iMovie is a great, free program.
But I can point you in the right direction regarding cameras. There are several posts here
that discuss cameras. Please read them and if you have more questions come back to your
thread and ask away!

Well I'm in pretty much the same boat as this guy. I am writing an awesome screenplay right now. I've written a treatment for it and sent it to some of my friends in the acting community. What I discovered is that enough people love the movie idea ?:)?that I now have several wanna-be actors who not only want to star in my movie but also own nice cameras and high-end video software.
It's not what you know, but who you know!!!?:D?
