I've just been given the opportunity to direct a music video for my freind's band. They're not expecting it to be MTV quality , but they do want it to look professional enough to post on their website/ you tube and hopefully get some more positive attention to their music.

I have a fantastic vision(which I'm still refining) for what I'd like to do and have begun raising money to finance the shoot. I know I'm way over my head, but I think this will be a great way for me to learn about directing in general, and all the unseen/ unexpected problems that can occur during a shoot.

I know people here have experience with MusicVid's and I was wondering if they had any general advice before I get started. I'm sure I'll come back with hundreds of questions once shooting begins but right now I'm looking for any guidelines or tips that you believe MUST be followed in order to make a successful video.

Your advice is very much appreciated.
