I am working on an action movie with my friends. It's sort of like 24, sort of like the Matrix, sort of like James Bond.

Any advice for doing action scenes would be GREATLY appreciated. Anything pertaining to using weapons, anything regarding filming car chases, anything pertaining to making punches look real.

Also any general movie making advice would be greatly appreciated as I am a novice.

Note: I am using a Sony Digital HandyCam :p, Windows movie maker :p, and Adobe After-Effects. If you have any comments on these let me know.

I'm no action filmmaker my selflike, but I'd imagine its best not to include scenes where stuff gets blown up (Unless of course its within your budget). If I was a action filmmaker though I'd keep it practicle, only use stuff in my narrative that I can make happen. For example theres no point me having a plane sequence wheres a plane crash, cause I wouldt be able to film it. Hope this contri has helped ya. Cleary.

Im not sure where your from, but I dont doubt if you plan to use fire arms then you will need to inform the local authority. I know that you have to here in the UK because of rising gun crime. Cleary.

When filming action shoot far more stuff than you think you need. You'll want to do quick cuts and not cut back to the same stuff over and over. This can mean multiple cameras or it can mean redoing the scene a dozen times from different angles.

it sucks to be missing a piece needed to link up two shots because you rushed.

You are planning on editing an action movie on Windows Movie Maker?'

Damn, I dunno, I would just download an Avid trial or something, Movie Maker rots.

And I agree with RJ, you're gonna need more cameras. Something hardcore.

That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough! I'm going to clown college!

I'm currently working on an efficient way to switch my project over to another editor w/o suffering too much quality loss. Yes, moviemaker is no picnic.

I'll be using airsoft guns for weapon props.

I've got 2 cameras right now. I'll see about more.

My greatest limitations right now:
-budget
-number of actors

Thanks for the help. I am still eager for further advice! ?:)?

I legally acquired Adobe Premiere for free. I will be using that. However, I am disappointed that no one has posted on this topic recently. I come before you on hands and knees, humbled and humiliated, to ask for advice? do not scorn me.
