Any sugestions for an independant film maker starting out. I'm looking to purchase a prosumer DV camera one that is capable of shooting in 24p. I'm not really sure about theses HDV cameras that are coming out, it seems like the technology is ahead of the curve a little. Any suggestions would be great. I'm looking for a camera in between 1,500 and $2,500.

Good luck on finding a decent DV camera for that price... especially one that shoots at 24p. My recommendation to you is to rent vice buy. The Canon XL-2 is nice, I shot a short with it. It offers 24p and a lot of other features.
