Hello everyone, this is my first post, bit I have a few questions, I am interested in making a 3D Animation Film. I have popped out a few games but I was curious what software is good for films? I am a PC user, I have not been able to get into the MAC sector. Thank you in advance. ?:D?

I like Lightwave, though I've never tried to make movies with it, only odd FX shots. I know it has been used for at least one decently budgeted feature, and was used for modelling in the Final Fantasy movie though I think they used Maya for the rendering.

I love lightwave as well. and if you check out their website you'll see that it was in fact used on many many features and high profile shows.
but more common in high end productions are
maya, softimage and houdini.max is mainly in the gaiming sector.cinema 4d is occasionally used too.
if you don't have any budget you can try blender for free.

have you used any 3d package at all? if not you might consider learning 3d for at least 6-12 mths before planning to do a 3d movie.
or get 3d artists to jump aboard. they'll tell you about their package of choice with pleasure....
also 3d is usually backed up by compositing and grading.
