Sony HDR-FX7 PAL HDV VS PD150

I see these are both the same prices. I hear though that HD is way better then 3ccd.

Can anyone enlighten me on this more.

Well 3CCD is the number of devices the camera uses to capture the image. High End HD cameras will also have 3 chips, but low end HD cameras might not, they do offer a higher resolution, but not always a better quality image. The quality of the image isn't always the number of pixels in the picture but the quality of the CCDs the number of them and the quality of the optics involved. The PD150 will give a better image quality than the FX7, but the FX7 has more pixels per frame being a HD camera.

It comes down to personal choice, and also the hardware you are editing on as well. More pixels needs more power.

The FX7 images I've seen are actually pretty good. The main limitation I'm aware of is that it's not as good in low light as the PD150.

thats ace, the camcorda i was looking at says it has 3CMOS chips i guess it means chips, ive only heard cmos from a pc. I would have thought hd would be better under lowlight conditions. Me and my cam have been through a lot it be a shame to sell it. but i remember 3 years ago it was 3k and now its 1,500 to sell. so in 3 years it will be worth zero? what to do...hummm

The CMOS chips aren't as good as CCDs in low light, also the HD chips have smaller pixels, so they don't collect as much light in the first place.
