In snowboard movies(other sports apply also though) some footage is shot on 16mm and some on digital, depending on what's being filmed, the conditions, etc. But how would these two, digital and film, be mixed to put into one movie. Obviously it would be film to digital somehow, since editing on a computer is probably a lot easier than splicing (duh). But how is it done? I have no idea. Please enlighten me.

The process is called telecine. It takes film and digitizes it so it can be edited on teh computer. There are a lot of companies that offer this service, here's one: http://www.sunsetpost.com/telecine.html
