I wanted to say hi and introduce myself, Im part of a team who have setup a new independent film platform called itzon.
As youll know online film can be a pretty crowded marketplace so rather than just create another VoD site weve taken a radical approach to provide a completely new type of platform. The project has evolved a long way since its first incarnation but at the core we wanted to create a truly enjoyable viewing experience through the Internet, which actually benefits filmmakers socially and financially.
Our system visually resembles TV, with a scheduled linear stream of programmes, provides the marketing significance and showcase feel of a Film Festival, but with the flexibility of online Video on Demand built in.
The platform delivers a huge range of independent films, documentaries and animations from around the world all scheduled into a linear stream. itzon is a curated, hassle-free, high-definition TV experience, available through Internet browsers or Internet-ready TVs.
Our platform offers:
Scheduled listings displayed online and in the weekly digital Whatzon magazine delivered by email to viewers.
itzonDemand, a Video on Demand (VoD) catch-up service. Viewers can either watch films from the library for free with advert breaks, or purchase credit and watch the films advert-free. In both systems, the revenue generated is shared with the filmmaker.
A monthly film festival: all accepted film submissions are also part of the itzon festival. Voted for by the viewers and judged by an industry panel, the winners receive up to 1,000 GBP in cash, software and hardware prizes.
Interaction: viewers can send filmmakers messages, use social media to spread the word about a great film or support the filmmaker by purchasing the DVD or merchandise through the itzForSale library.
Promotion of films that receive rave reviews from the itzon audience to distributors, broadcasters and commissioning editors.
itzon will be marketed globally to attract large viewer numbers and open opportunity for the viewing public to see films they would never get the chance to see in the main-stream cinemas.
We are passionate about providing digital promotion to independent films in all stages of distribution, not just the latest releases. Whether this is a re-launch of a popular film that is now experiencing a plateau in viewing numbers or DVD sales, a date-specific screening, or a simultaneous multiplatform launch, itzon is flexible and curated to maximize the platform for the individual filmmakers needs.
We accepts submissions for review across all genres, from shorts to full-length features.
Currently in Beta testing, we are preparing to launch in March.
