The California Online Film Festival was created by Joe and Harry Gantz, the producers of such shows as the Emmy winning HBO series "Taxicab Confessions" and the Showtime series "Sexual Healing", as part of their new Internet network, CrushedPlanet.com.
The goal of The California Online Film Festival is to show innovative and provocative content from around the world. Film buffs no longer have to go to the theater to participate. The California Online Film Festival plans to expand the boundaries of storytelling and online entertainment, and celebrate all of our cultural and artistic differences through strong personal expression.
CrushedPlanet is an international online community for people 18 years and over, featuring inventive and intelligent content from artists around the world. This is a curated site with fifteen interconnected channels, each with its own unique identity, and all featuring content with a strong point of view. With names like "Turn Back Now," "Tell a Vision," "Mind Bloggling" and "The War On Comedy," individual channels feature content ranging from narrative and documentary, to animation and comedy, to theatre, music, fine art, and video blogs.
Unlike other entertainment websites, CrushedPlanet carefully selects and distributes original work from top artists and emerging talents, while allowing those artists to retain all the rights to their work and receive the majority of fees paid to view their work. CrushedPlanet is positioned to change the web by forming an online international community of adult viewers searching for compelling programming and uncensored creative content.
The California Online Film Festival runs January 9th thru June 2009.
