Hey Everyone!
I just joined the forum not long ago, so I thought I'd post the first sample of work I've done. It's pretty basic--just a brief editing project about the American media. I used YouTube, Google, iMovie, and not much else:

It's a bit graphic, so just be careful. The media player isn't the best, so you may need to hit play, pause to let it buffer fully, then play again. Otherwise, here's a shorter excerpt on YouTube: ?url? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82SMOaONmw4?/url?
Anyway, let me know what you think. If you like it, by all means subscribe, link to it on Facebook, etc. I'm interested to see how many views it'll get.
Thanks! ?:)?
I like what you're trying to achieve there bberrey0324.
Some constructive criticisms though. Most of the fades to and from black were too long, kind of distracting. Would have been nice to have some sort of sound in the titles and credits. For example, the audio from the concert could be playing in the title, then you fade to it with the video, and the audience now knows exactly what it is.
A more important critique however, is how you presented the news itself. The one thought I had throughout the entire film was "this doesn't necessarily mean there was no news coverage of these other events, it just means that pop culture still permeates."
Right? If I'm correct in understanding that your goal was to demonstrate the lack of concern media demonstrates for true issues, then I don't know if that was demonstrated appropriately. Now I'm completely on your side for this endeavour, but it could be improved I believe.
Some real juxtapositioning would be nice. There has got to be an archived news clip somewhere that goes "another four dead in Afghanistan... BUT PARIS HILTON is demonstrating MAJOR issues in..." There has to be, and something like that would really support your point. More video news in general would be beneficial, this is a video, after all. 🙂
Finally, it would be good to know who the newscasters are representing. For all I know all of these announcers are from some obscure community radio station, just a mention of "CNN" or some other major broadcaster would turn your clips into much bigger attention grabbers, to my mind.
Oh, and I just watched the YouTube version, didn't realize the other one is longer. My points probably still stand though. 🙂
