Hello everyone, my name is Michael Joseph and I am currently working on my directorial debut, "zero budget. a movie about two dudes making a movie.". However, after trying to make it with what I had last summer, things didn't go so well and I realized I needed money. If you're willing to sacrifice a few minutes of your time to hear me talk about why I need money, what I'm going to spend it on, and what I'm going to make with said stuff, and possibly give me some, the project is on Kickstarter: ?url? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/joraffproductions/zero-budget?/url?
Any backing (or even criticism) is much appreciated!

Well, ya can't blame somebody for trying.

For ANYONE who wishes to attract investors, it is necessary for them to first PROVE that THEY (not the project necessarily) are worth the investment in money or time. If I'm going to "invest" my time or money into a project, I'm going to want to know that the person in charge knows what they are doing, which means that I'll likely want to see some evidence of past work. I'll also want to know that the project in question is worth my time and/or money so that I know that A) my time/money is going to something worthy and B) that my name will be connected with something admirable... read another way: that my name WON'T be attached to something objectionable.

The website above lists $1,400 as the financing goal which makes me seriously question the quality of the final product. It's not likely that a quality short film can be made for that amount of money. Perhaps if the "filmmaker" was asking for $15,000 as a goal, I'd know that he knew what it really takes to make a quality project and I'd be more apt to consider it. But $1,400 is such a small amount and won't really give the "filmmaker" enough financing to produce anything of quality.

I admire what you're trying, Michael. I think $1,400 is a fine goal for
someone of your age and experience. As I'm sure you understand, the
harsh reality is at this stage it's going to be family and friends who
believe in you who are your most likely donors.

I hope they donate!

Why don't you just get a job, save your money, and shoot the video? That way, you won't owe anything to anyone, and you can brag about how you financed everything yourself.

The good (or bad) thing about Kickstarter is the filmmaker
doesn't owe the donors anything once the movie is finished.
All money is donated.
