SoCal Moviemakers Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit based in San Diego, Calif., is launching an online, international filmmaking competition with nearly $30,000 in prizes. The Grand Prize winner will receive The Ultimate Filmmaking Kit worth approximately $25,000 in prizes. The Second Place Winner will receive a Filmmaking Package valued at over $2,500. The third place winner will receive a Filmmaking Package valued at over $700. Each genre winner will win a prize package valued at over $300.

To enter the competition, filmmakers should submit a narrative film of 10 minutes or less online by Dec. 15, 2010; the Early Bird deadline is Oct. 15, 2010. Films will be voted on online at the organizations Web site, www.socalmoviemakers.com, from Dec. 15, 2010 until Jan. 16, 2011, at which point the Top 10 finalists will be announced. From Jan. 17-30, 2011, a panel of industry judges will review the final entries and make their decision by Jan. 31, 2011. The competition costs $50 per film to enter, or $40 before the Early Bird deadline.

The Ultimate Filmmaking Kit contains close to 40 different prizes in the areas of Story Development, Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production, Distribution/Exhibition and Legal.
