I just came back from New York, and it seems livelier than last year. I'd like some impressions from people in the film industry on what they're seeing around them. How's business in LA and NY?

Anyone?

LA has been down for a while with most production going to Michigan, Georgia, and Lousiana because of tax incentives/bribes.

I've been on the road since July working on Fast & Furious 5 in Arizona, Puerto Rico, and now Atlanta. Granted, some of that is because of locations, but each of those locations offered tax incentives/bribes. Much of what we're doing in Atlanta could easily have been shot in LA, so there is no other reason to be here other than money.

Check out the "incentives" link on the right side of the homepage at http://www.realfilmcareer.com for information on where production is and where it may be going. 🙂

You're working on Fast and Furious 5? Wow! Awesome stuff! And did I read Inception and Titanic? That's crazy!

How's the film turning out?

LA is losing companies, because of California's horrible financial and tax situation. But isn't LA the place to be for film? As in, it's the most important film center on Earth, and it will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Business seems up a bit from the same time last year.
I've been working more and even turning down some
gigs. At least in TV.

Pirates 4 has been shooting here and that's been 2
to 3 days per week for me.

CI, what's the sense about LA/California remaining the largest film production center in the world? People are leaving, but the state is still the most powerful in the union.
