We have a fantastic line up of Tutors and Guest speakers who are there to give you information and advice on how to get into the film industry.
The importance of Sound
We will cover topics such as sound recording on location introduced by our highly experienced Straight Curve tutors John Ratcliffe and Jules Dawton who will give a tutorial, followed by our featured guest speaker Chris Gurney (Basic instinct 2, shooting dog) , a freelance sound recordist will give you an honest inside look on what it is like to work as a freelance sound engineer within the film industry.
Brad Ashton: Comedy writer
You will also hear from Brad Ashton who has had over 40 years experience in writing comedy. His credits include writing for Bob Monkhouse, Tommy cooper and many more. He is also author of ?How to write comedy? and ?The funny thing about writing comedy? both of which will be discussed on the day.
Frank Graves: Screenwriter and BAFTA member
Another of Straight Curve?s fantastic tutors Frank Graves a member of BAFTA will take you through a short discussion on script writing for beginners and give you his experiences as a writer.
Johannes Roberts: Director of ?When Evil Calls?
In the afternoon we have a fantastic line up of speakers. Writer and Director Johannes Roberts whose latest feature ?When Evil Calls? starring Sean Pertwee is due for release later this year will discuss how to get into the film industry, what will be expected of you and what process you will need to go through.
A Battle of opinions: Ben Blaine and Johannes Roberts
A lively debate about the ?Auteur Theory? with Johannes Roberts and Ben Blaine (Charlie Productions) co-director of ?Free Speech? staring Danny Dyer and more recently ?Hello Panda? with Film 4 and the Film Council. Discussion to be hosted by Sandra Shevey an authority on Hollywood film theory.
Networking event
There will be a chance to meet the speakers and ask questions. After you can join us for a relaxing and fun networking evening in the Duck and Dive bar in the same venue.

This event will be held at University Of London Union in Malet street which is just off Tottenham Court Road. Nearest tubes are Goodge St, Warren St and Euston.
It starts at 9.30am for registration and will finish at 5.30pm followed by an evening of networking in the same venue from 6 to 10pm.
We have had a fantastic response so far and have had to book a bigger room to accommodate everyone so places are now limited.
