An Open Letter from Buck Felty, Dean of UNY Film School
Dear Film Lovers, Film makers, Film Enthusiasts,
At UNY School of Film, we are dedicated to a community of artists who can work on their art away from all that holds back an artist of film in today?s world. That?s why I gave an all-access pass to a crackerjack crew of documentary film makers who documented the inner workings of prestigious UNY Film School. The result is FILMIC ACHIEVEMENT ? an unflinching look at the filmmakers of tomorrow. This film charts our intensive program and follows our students as they strive to win the coveted Filmic Achievement Award and the industry mentorship and $10,000 cash that comes with it.
Boasting a top-notch faculty and a location in world-famous New York City, UNY Film School is dedicated to all types of filmmakers ? African-American, Asian-American, Cuban and Dominican American, Russian-American, French-American, English-American, Gay/Lesbian and Transgender Individuals, The Handi-Capable, the Elderly and of course Women and/or Womyn on the face(s) of filmmaking today. As creators, as givers of life to a world on the screen, this is what we owe to each other so, so much. Yes, that is why we are here.
Described as ??the definitive film on film school?? (filmmaker.com) and ??one of the best documentaries on the creative process?? (Norman Shandy, Norman Shandy Productions) ? Filmic Achievement is an unflinching look at the filmmakers of tomorrow.
Join me in celebrating these artists of film as they strive to ?be the best they can be.?
Yours in Filmic Achievement,
Buck Felty
