Fathoms Deep Logline - In the aftermath of a deal gone bad, two partners in crime, Hicks (Zachary Block) and Cash (Robert Dill) are mere puppets in a twisted lineup of crime lords and "not quite so right in the head" villains. Amongst the haunting backdrop of the Mojave Desert, they now have to wait out the storm with a less than appealing safety man, Pox (Austin Galante of Bad Fathers) while an opposing crime boss Lou Garris (Duane Daniels) has them hunted down. Will they make it out just in time, or is there even a way out? Fathom's Deep is a thrilling and often comical look into the life of un-organized crime and one things for sure... "There's no such thing as Good Guys."

We shot in almost 30 locations (Probably closer to 20. Some we used multiple parts of) Had a huge cast of 22 actors and broke a lot of the no-budget first time filmmaker rules. We had gunshots and car crashes.
Equipment
We had my camera Package (Hvx200a with SGBlade and pentax lenses) with tripod and DIY dolly. A very nice sound mixer with a Rode NTG-3 shotgun mic and boom and a 3 piece lighting kit consisting of 650w redheads and some gels.
I rushed the script out in two weeks because another movie we were working on got canceled. HOWEVER I think it's one of the best things I've written. It was good enough to convince almost 30 people to jump on board. We shot in three day segments for a two weeks and had two extra pick up days. (Not including B-roll)
We cast of Actors Access and held readings at CAZT studios in Hollywood. Location scouting in Lancaster almost got us shot.... SERIOUSLY!!!! My producer got bit on her hip by a German Shepard. But we found useable locations for pretty cheap.
While backing up the footage, my producers computer crashed and we lost 3 days of footage. With some data recovery software I was able to obtain all but 1/2 a card back. Still have to go re-shoot or animate two scenes. Overall I think the film turned out great.
Since I was acting as well as shooting and directing and producing, we had a few compromises and close calls as well as some out of focus shots while someone else took the camera but I've just finished a rough edit of the film and am content with all the content.
