Creative/Production Company Phasmatrope Studios Expands Services With New Directors
Steve Andrich, Scott Whitham and Billy Paul Join the Award-Winning Company Led By Director Jeff Odiorne and Exec. Prod. Jonathan Isen
HAVERFORD, PA - Building on their already impressive creative reputation, Phasmatrope Studios (www.phasmatrope.com), the two-year-old award-winning creative/production company led by Director Jeff Odiorne and Executive Producer Jonathan Isen, has expand their creative capabilities considerably with the addition of directors Steve Andrich, Scott Whitham and Billy Paul.
For Isen the new talent represents only 'phase 1' of an overall strategic plan for the company that centers on offering clients a wider palette of services and talent.
"Phasmatrope enjoys a strong base in the commercial production business, but our new directors further secure our ability to provide top tier talent for our current clients and new ones," said Isen. "With Steve, Scott and Billy we're able to offer more creative options while still maintaining what a lot of people initially responded to."
Isen added, "When we were a one-director shop there was a lot of work we simply wouldn't be considered for because it wasn't what we were known for. Now we can do everything from the edgy comedy/visuals Jeff is known for as well as sports/action, visual effects, general business and pharmaceuticals and music/youth oriented culture."
Steve Andrich:
Known for his keen eye for sports and action spots, Director/Cameraman Steve Andrich has earned numerous awards for his work both in features and long-form television, as well as commercials. Andrich began his career at NFL Films, Mt. Laurel, NJ, where he rose to lead the camera department and coordinated many NFL Films' Super Bowl productions. His sports expertise led him to Hollywood where worked on many sports-related feature films - including We are Marshall, Invincible, Coach Carter, The Longest Yard and The Water Boy - where he served as a visual consultant and cinematographer for the sports action sequences. Steve has also directed numerous ads involving star athletes from teams around the country.
"Steve's unique ability is to always find and capture the perfect moment in action photography," says Odiorne. "He goes places where others just can't. It's magical to watch Steve's dailies - there's always too much to choose from."
Steve just wrapped his first Phasmatrope assignment - a Caterpillar Footwear spot featuring the NASCAR Caterpillar Race Team for agency Pyro/Richards Group, Dallas, TX
Billy Paul:
Billy Paul brings to Phasmatrope a unique creative background in both the music and advertising industries. Most recently he was a Vice President/Creative Director at Sony/BMG, New York, where he directed spots and promotional campaigns for numerous artists, including Five for Fighting, Xzibit and Pete Yorn.
Prior to that he was freelance director/copywriter working with Oxygen Network, Tourneau, Motorola and Verizon. In 2001 he handled creative duties for Xbox as Vice President/Creative Director at McCann-Erickson, New York. Prior to that he worked at Lowe, Lintas & Partners, San Francisco and TBWA Chiat Day. He began his career as a copywriter at Goody, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco.
"Billy opens up a whole new venue for Phasmatrope," said Isen. "We have aggressively explored the music business looking to find talent that can connect music with advertising. We feel we've scored that with Billy."
His first Phasmatrope assignment is a four-spot package for Temple University.
Scott Whitham:
With his deft hand at kids, comedy dialogue and business spots, particularly for the pharmaceutical industry, coupled with a deep knowledge of visual effects and postproduction techniques, Scott Whitham brings a well-crafted point of view to his work. Engaging the audience as part of the action is a Scott Whitham trademark.
"Scott really knows how to connect with a concept," said Isen. "Scott always bringing a fresh point of view to the boards. He is so approachable and collaborative that clients quickly view him as a friend and creative partner. He has built an impressive roster of repeat clients, which is a tribute to his talent and style."
Scott just wrapped a regional spot for the Children's Health Insurance Program in Pennsylvania.
Addys Added To The Trophy Shelf
In other Phasmatrope news, the company recently took a Best of Television award, as well as 5 Gold and 3 Silver at the 2007 Philadelphia Ad Club Addy Awards. The awards were for their campaigns for In Demand Networks and The Sundance Channel, both created by agency The Brooklyn Brothers, New York.
