The film was awarded Best Director of a Feature at the NY International Independent Film Festival in Hollywood and the Audience Choice for Best Feature at the same festival in New York City. "Taffy Was Born" has also been chosen by ITN to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival market in May, 2005.
