The LMN Student Filmmaker Competition
At Lifetime Movie Network ("LMN"), we know women are the best storytellers. Surprisingly, in 2005, according to a recent study, women made up only 17% of all directors, executive producers, writers, cinematographers and editors working on the top 250 domestic grossing films.
To encourage the next generation of female filmmakers, Lifetime Movie Network, The Hollywood Reporter, Women In Film Los Angeles, New York Women in Film & Television, and Women in Film are launching the LMN Student Filmmaker Competition, a competition to identify and celebrate the best short (three-to-five-minute) films produced by female film students from across the country.
All women film students at the undergraduate and graduate levels may enter by submitting an official application along with an original nondocumentary short film of three to five minutes in length. Entrants may submit an application from May 15 through July 16, 2007. Winners of the 2007 LMN Filmmaker Competition will be announced on LMN.tv and in the press on or about October 1, 2007.
