Showreel Magazine is launching a competition to find the best script for a 10-minute short.

Showreel, in association with leading technology and facilities companies, is launching a competition to find the best treatment for a 10-minute short. The winner, selected by a panel of judges, will be provided with the following kit and services to help them make their short:

A Panasonic Progressive Cinematography Camcorder for six weeks
Sennheiser sound recording equipment loan
Arri lighting equipment loan courtesy of VMI
A week of studio time at Pinewood Shepperton
Professional video editing at Covent Garden post house Frontline Television
Audio editing by BAFTA-winning editor Cliff Jones of Sound Monsters in Soho
An original music score written especially for your short by Chris Worth Productions

And lots and lots of publicity in the pages of Showreel magazine. We will also help market the finished short to festivals and events.

The winner will receive all of the equipment and much of the expertise to turn their script into reality. They just have to provide the talent.

How to enter

Email Denise Haskew, denise?showreel.org for an application form and competition rules.

Deadline for entries: 30 September 2004

The best five submissions will be asked to pitch their ideas to an expert panel (TBA) in mid-October 2004. An announcement of the winner will also be made in the November issue of Showreel.

The two-week production period is to start in Mid-November, followed by two weeks in post in early January 2005. The finished film will be case studied in the February issue of Showreel and promoted to festivals and events.

The competition is free and exclusive to Showreel subscribers and, due to logistics, only UK-based productions will be considered. You can subscribe to Showreel at www.showreel.org/subscriptions.html
