Ok so as an 8th grade student it is uch harder to mkae films, believe it or not. because this is a 0 budget movie, i dont hand out paychecks to my actors, so the filming is based on thier sceduales, not mine. the movie im making is taking a long time to make...
March- Plot concieved
April Script Written
May- Shooting begins, by end of month 8 of 24 scenes done ?:(?

anyway, the move is called
Richard: an Educational Bully Film
it is based on a movie we saw in health class called "joey"

the trailers are here--
Teaser Trailer- ?url? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMuJR9nfelo?/url?
Movie Trailer- ?url? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJTqLNong3M?/url?

(A note on the traler, i made this before i had any idea of music rights, legal issues, etc, so please PLEASE dont flame me about the music, i'm not intending to use it for the actual film istelf)

there are 8 of us at own3d studios, we have some volenteer exras in the movie, and we shoot with a panasonic PV-GS80 (DV)

alothough i bought magic movie edit pro 12, it is cousing problems (laggy footage) so i maily use windows movie maker. (remember, im flat broke)?V?

tell me what u think of the plot, etc, its a hit in our school, but i would like some professional advice ?8D?
(i would get better lighting but again, im broke, so im working on that (ganna get a job)

also this is my FIRST "real" film EVER, so dont be to harsh haha

thanks guys,

Well done on the effort.

The editing is pretty good on the teaser and trailer, but the camera work is poor. I'd suggest spending less time on the fancy graphics and presentation and more time on learning the basics of filmmaking. But you're young and obviously passionate, so go for it, but please remember my earlier advice. These days its so easy to slap it all together on a PC with the pro looking graphics, that many wannabe filmmakers forget about the craft of filmmaking, which is the very basic ability to match shots in a coherent manner and shots that are framed correctly, with camera movements that look professional.

Thank you so much for the advice.
it just so happens that my tri-pod broke, about a week prior to the filming of some of the movie.
however, i purchased a new one, so the majority of the film should be DECENT camerawork.
im one of those people who likes to control everything, its really hard wen i give the camera to my cameraman becuase sometimes he dosnt do the shots i want, but im trying to teach him..

HEY my grandmas from ireland?:D?

Ive no doubt you'll end up with a much better production than I would have at that age. Regarding your camera man. Try using a monitor connected to the camera so you can see what he's at. Rehearse the shot with him and the actors, while viewing it. "Video assist" was invented for this purpose. In the age of DV its even easier.

Now this is you doin your thing man. Far far better than the serious effort we discussed earlier. Perhaps you were more relaxed on this project and thats why it flows better. Its natural, less constrained and I enjoyed it. Guerilla filmmaking. Keep that up. This is the kinda thing that gets you into film school. I wish I'd been born years later. All I had in my teens, was a shitty 8mm film camera and a crap mic.?:D?You have technology at your finger tips. Use it wisely.

****, I sound like yer man from Star Wars.?:D?

Love the flash back sequence, absolutely hilarious and brilliantly over acted.

I know exactly where you're coming from man, I'm right at your age group, only in 10th grade now. Let me tell, you really have to be ingenious to pull off stuff when you're broke. That's how I learned how to fix monitors. Everyone says that it is much better to have a monitor hooked up and use it to view what your camcorder's seeing, and let me tell you, it makes a big difference, letting you catch those little things. If you go to garage sales, goodwill, and stuff, you can pick up a tiny little battery powered TV for about 50 cents. Or, you might even be able to find a flat screen computer monitor, which I did. I found one that was broken and got a few big ones too, took them apart and built it up brand new. Tada, no budget monitor. Also, use lighting from home depot. Even on no budget, you can borrow some work lights from people in your neighborhood, lots of people have them, and if you take good care of them they don't mind letting you use them. There are all sorts of ways that you can pull off professional lighting tricks. I found a portable projector screen at a garage sale. I can set it up anywhere, it's light weight, and I use it as a reflector that you don't need people to hold. I can also take off the screen part and use it as a C-stand. I don't mean to sound condescending, but I just want to let you know all the stuff I wish someone had told me two years ago. You really just need to be ingenious.
