I am curious what genre of film people here on filmmaking.net prefer to write, or direct, or watch with a feed-bag of popcorn? Primarily though, if you are a writer or writer+director filmmaker, I am curious what genre is your passion.

I prefer comedy, everything from classy to slap-stick to napoleon dynamite-esque. I also like drama, or a dramadey. I don't like horror, though action I do like. I have done one film which was border-line horror, but it didn't involve crazy plots, but a mafia shooting. I shot a horror with 11 other people once, and didn't really like the genre, though it was a fun experience. I've also done some artsy avante garde stuff, though I don't dwell to much in that subject. I'd like to hear some other people, and don't forget yourself Beowulf.

War/Drama and Science Fiction. Sometimes I I like thriller, or maybe sci-fi/thriller. I know war and sci-fi have nothing to do with each other, but somehow I like them both.

When the script writing is done, the work has just begun. When the filming is done, the work has just begun. When post-production is done, the work has just begun. When the distribution is done, you decide if the work is done.

Horror generally, because its easy to write and cheap to shoot. That said, I do love the genre for its thrills and spills.

But we'll have a little number online in a few hours thats more drama based. In fact, its my first drama ever!! Still love the horror though.

When I said "war", I meant like military and WWII kind of war. Even though I do love Star Wars.

star wars. is that what he was alluding too.

I prefer comedy. Im trying to work on a sketch show and sitcom.

Filmwise, im trying to write kind of a surreal comedy, sort of like weird science, Fu manchu, with hypnosis, brainwashing and electric shock treatment.

Im also thinking about a horror/ werewolf script.

I have bought two houses in bulgaria so i have the sets and the villages are kind of like wicker-man type. Not much exp on that genre though so if anyone could help, thats brilliant

i generally watch/write drama. i also like dramatic comedies a lot, but really, i'm not very good at writing them. Generally the topics i write about are too painfully serious to have humour in them that anyone besides me gets...

Comedy and Dramedy are the genres I have been writing. My comedies can range from slapstick all the way to social satire. I like incorporating different types of comedy into my films.

Which genre I prefer? Good question. Me personally, I'm up for anything, but considering how much I enjoy Hitchcock (And my favorite movie is "Rear Window," by the way), I guess I'd have to say suspense/thriller is my biggest taste. But I'm willing to settle for anything as long as it's good.

I guess I'd have to say drama, for when it comes to writing. But if talking about watching, then anything will do. I don't have a favourite genre ?:p?

I plan to direct action, drama, and comedy. More of a mixture of the three rather than only action, only drama, or only comedy. No horror moves, because I don't see getting any enjoyment out of watching or making them.

Science fiction, no question about it. I would also like to do comedies that are social commentaries.
