Hi to all. I am looking to set up a special effects company - but sadly have no portfolio!

I am looking to build a portfolio by producing cool effects for other people's movies, either low budget or no budget, I don't mind.

I have some very powerful software and the theoretical knowledge to back it up. So if this sounds interesting email me:

A few things that might help:

There are many types of special effects. You could mention
what your speciality is.

You should also mention where you are. This forum is read
by people all over the world.

True, I should present a portfolio, but that's the problem, I'm looking for something spontaneous. I am trying to veer away from those typical boring portfolios that people make just to promote themselves. The best type of creativity occurs from ideas between creative individuals.

As for the type of special effects I can do. I cover nearly all computer based effects, from 2D, greenscreen, colour correction stuff, 2D and 3D particle creation, through to 3D CGI and digital matte painting.

I am looking for someone to inspire me to CREATE. Anyone looking to experiment with new and interesting effects can really benefit from this.

I will try and put together at least some examples of what I am saying though.

Thanks for the replies.

As a prodCo owner who hires, those typical, boring portfolios that people make
is what I look at. It's an important part of my hiring decision.

I'm also open to working with new comers, experimenting and interesting efx. But
I kinda need something to look at. In addition, where the person is matters. I'd
be willing to work with someone far away from me if the price is right and the work
excellent. I'd also be willing to help inspire someone create if that person lived
near me. So location is important either way.

When you have some examples and are willing to mention where you are, you
will get more interest, I think.

Sounds like you're more of a vfx artist than a sfx person. But I have an upcoming project that we are staffing for and we need compositors, 2d & 3d artists, and rotoscopers. Unfortunately, I don't think you will land a paying job without some sort of resume or reel to put out there.

But if you're just starting out and in the Los Angeles area, we'd love to talk to you and bring you on board!
