I've written about NY being a major film production center, and it has just received a boost. A major film studio has just been built, from the old Brooklyn Navy shipyard, and it has attracted some major projects.

Does anyone know anything about it? More important, can anyone get me an intro to the execs at the studio? I'd love to pick their brains.
Hi Aspiring,
Not sure if you found your answer, but this studio has a website: www.steinerstudios.com.
And, unfortunately, I believe Doug Steiner only rents out the stages to other film makers and companies--see Clients page.
All the best,
Anethea

I didn't see this post until today. Not doing my "mod" duties am I?
Since the Steiner Studios opened in 2004 I'm not sure that NY "just"
got a boost. I shot there in '06 doing behind the scenes footage for
"Enchanted" and was there in 2008 asking about booking space
for a music video shoot.
You don't really need an intro to any exec's there. Contact John Eddey
718.858.1600. He is in charge of booking and can answer any question
you might have.

CI, you've been doing an excellent job here, so don't worry. 🙂
I was hoping to speak to a studio exec about the nature of show business, as opposed to wanting to rent space from them.
I see.
Then a rental studio like Steiner isn't the place to do that. None of the people
there are studio executives in that sense. They own production space and
rent it. That's a very different job than the head of a production studio.

True, but it's still a good idea to pick their brains, because they have a different perspective. I'm set to speak to some colleagues about this, because they've moved into TV, so they have ideas that I may be able to find useful.
Then it's a good idea to contact John and pick his brain.

I wonder if he's approachable. I suppose there's no harm in calling - all he can do is hang up.
