I know about this film festival that was started by high school kids that is for high school filmmakers to show their films, called the Westport Youth Film Festival. I went last year, and I was amazed at how many people showed up, and thus how much exposure the young filmmakers that had submitted their films were getting. They have an awards ceremony at the end (the people who see the films vote.) They also had a series of panels with local filmmakers and other adults in the business such as casting directors and producers. Last year Al Brodax, one of the masterminds behind Yellow Submarine (the animated film with the Beatles) spoke about his experience working on the movie. Overall it was an awesome experience. Last year they received upwards of 300 films from high school kids all over the world. If you?re a young filmmaker and you want people to see your films, enter them in the Westport Youth Film Festival. Deadline for entries is March 31st, and the festival is on May 13th. Go to wyff.net for more information and to enter your film. Even if you aren?t a filmmaker, you should still come, because it?s a blast!
