Is there any strategic length of a film to shoot for when doing a short film, to be as marketable as possible for gaining entry to short film festivals?

Typically films between 8 and 15 minutes are best, but if you can keep people entertained, some festivals allow films all the way up to an hour in their shorts competition. Overall, though, many DVD compilations of shorts are looking for the 10-20 minute film and that seems to be what wins at most festivals (especially when it comes to comedy). Best of luck!
