The 2008 Nokia Mobile Filmmaking Awards

In 2006, filmmaker Jehane Noujaim spoke to an international audience of global figures at the annual TED conference and implored them to help her create Pangea Day.

Her aim was to share visions of universal truths like love, laughter and hope with people around the world so they could empathise with one another through the medium of film.

This year, Pangea Day is a reality and with Nokia, the vision of connecting people around the world through film will become a live global event online and on TV.

To increase involvement, Nokia has launched a special mobile film competition:
The 2008 Nokia Mobile Filmmaking Awards.
We?re setting aspiring filmmakers a challenge, to create and upload a short mobile film to www.ovi.com/pangeaday that answers one of the following spontaneous briefs:

Film an act of kindness
Film the best part of today
Film the next thing that makes you smile
Film the next person to inspire you

Paticipants have until April 25th to upload and share their mobile films at www.ovi.com/pangeaday where the global audience will then rate their favourite film.
Five finalists will join the Pangea Day live broadcast event in Los Angeles, and have their film included in the global broadcast, before a select panel of judges choose an overall winner of the grand prize, a filmmaking trip of a lifetime.

Make sure you take the chance to display your skills on a world stage.
