One of the best-respected regional film events in the nation, the Florida Film Festival was named one of the top 10 festivals in the world by festival guru Chris Gore in his 2001 edition of The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide. The Festival features an American Independent Competition with Grand Jury Awards for Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short, as well as Special Jury Awards, and Audience Awards for best Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Short Film, International Feature, and International Short. The Florida Film Festival is pleased to offer a $100,000 goods and services package to the winner of the Best Narrative Feature in the American Independent Competition. In addition, Florida is a qualifying festival for the Academy Awards in the category of Live Action Short.
