I was wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom:

I'm at rough cut level with my short. To complete it properly, I feel I should submit it to next year's fests. I could, however, possibly submit it to later festivals this year. The production date is August 2004. Does anyone know if submitting it next year will hurt my chances of being accepted?
