Saturday, June 9, 20012, the Jaxon Film Fest in conjunction with the Jackson District Library will screen a collection of narrative horror shorts for public viewing. Where: East Branch Public Library, ? 3125 East Michigan Ave. Jackson, MI Time: 2:00 PM.

This is the third of our Saturday Matinees building up to the Jaxon Film Fest September 29, 2012. This series has been created to give you an inside glimpse into the films we have received and to get feed back from you the viewing public. All are invited. This event is FREE!

Horror
Horror films are a film genre seeking to elicit a negative emotional reaction from viewers by playing on the audience's most primal fears. They often feature scenes that startle the viewer through the means of macabre and the supernatural, thus they may overlap with the fantasy and supernatural genre. Horrors frequently overlap with the thriller genre. Horror films often deal with the viewer's nightmares, hidden worst fears, revulsions and terror of the unknown. Plots written within the horror genre often involve the intrusion of an evil force, event, or personage, commonly of supernatural origin, into the everyday world.

Katharsis (short) Artur Filipowicz (Poland) 9:17 minutes
Katharsis is an independent movie based on the art by Zdzis?aw Beksi?ski. It is a tribute to the great polish artist. Zdzislay Besinski paintings belong to Historical Museum in Sanok.

Thoughts of a Dead Atheist (short) Tom Sokalski (Canada) 7:56 minutes
An atheist arrives in hell for his beliefs. There, he meets the Devil with whom he makes a wager playing chess meanwhile engaging in a discourse about the existence of God. and the nature of Heaven and Hell. (Contains strong language which some may find offensive.)

The Glitch (short) Joe Fordham (California) 12:58 minutes
Late-night TV viewer Harry Owen (Scott Charles) experiences a series of brain-splitting digital breakdowns that cause him to question his perception of reality and his mental health.

The Killing Joke (short) Sebastian Lopez (California) 16:46 minutes
The Killing Joke is a 15 minute suspense/fiction short film about a mysterious woman that finds a red balloon tied up to a curious little box on an eerie derelict street. Using classic elements of suspense and working within a seventies aesthetic, 'The Killing Joke' is an action packed film that pays homage to some of the horror movies from that era.

WHITE ZOMBIE (Feature) Bela Lugosi (1932) 1:05:21
Bela Lugosi plays Murder Legendre in this genre defining horror movie. A young man plans to lure his love away from her fiancé with the help of a witch doctor. The doctor instead turns his love into a Zombie slave.
