The 5th Annual Art of Brooklyn Film Festival (May 13-17, 2015) opened submissions on October 1st, 2014 with a special early bird rate of $25 that will last until October 31st. Filmmakers can submit via Withoutabox, and ? for the first time ? Film Freeway.
AoBFF will accept submissions from October 1st - to Feb 28th, 2015, with a special extended deadline of March 15th for Withoutabox users. AoBFF guarantees that every film submitted will be considered by our Film Screening Panel, up until midnight on the final day of submissions.
Founded in 2011 by working artists, the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival is the only independent, international festival for, by and about Brooklyn indie film ? a local scene with global influence. AoBFF screens films from all over the world whose creators are connected to Brooklyn?s diverse independent film community. For example, in years past AoBFF has programmed a documentary by an Italian filmmaker about a Hassidic Brooklyn rapper, an Australian horror film by a Brooklyn-born filmmaker, Japanese and Canadian films that were shot in our borough, and a Turkish film directly inspired by Brooklyn?s diversity ? in addition to scores of indies by Brooklyn based filmmakers across genres. Every film must describe how it?s connected to Brooklyn to be eligible for the AoBFF.
2015 will mark the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival?s 5th anniversary, a benchmark year for indie film festivals. ?Five is a very important number for us? says Festival Director Jason Cusato. ?It shows we?ve created something that has become part of the cultural landscape of Brooklyn. We?ve grown every year and we have great things planned for our fifth anniversary.? A.R.T.S.Y. Magazine named AoBFF the 1# film festival in the United States in 2014. INDUSTRY Magazine called AoBFF ?An indie gem that showcases the best of the Borough? and The L Magazine said it?s ?A film festival for Brooklyn, by Brooklyn and About Brooklyn.?
