The First Annual Philadelphia Independent Film & Video Festival (PIFVF) will take place December 4 - 7, 2008 in Philadelphia, Pa. at Harambee Institute of Science & Technology and Club Damani. The 2008 PIFVF will showcase every genre of independent film from across the world during this celebration of the independent artist.
The PIFVF will be honoring the memory of the late John F. Skief. John Skief was a pioneer in education for African American youth in the city of Philadelphia and the founder of the Harambee Institute. Mr. Skief was a lover of film and video as well as education. Mr. Skief transitioned in December of 2007.
The inaugural PIFVF is a chance for independent and upstart filmmakers to showcase their works and talent in a small scale film festival. Through our partnership with the Harambee Institute of Science and Technology, we are putting a special focus on entries dealing with education and social change. We are not limiting our competition to just those important topics; it is open to all submissions.
