In your opinion, what are the best (well-respected) film competitions/festivals (national or international) which include a "short film" catagory.

The top 5 festivals in the world are:
1) Cannes Film Festival (France)
2) Sundance Film Festival (USA)
3) Venice Film Festival (Italy)
4) Berlin Film Festival (Germany)
5) Toronto Film Festival (Canada)
As far as I'm aware, all of these accept short films (although for some you will need a 35mm print if you get accepted).
