FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Andy Robinson?s Music Bucket Video Contest

Eclectic San Diego musician Andy Robinson is celebrating creativity with a contest for amateur videographers.

"Everyone with a cell phone and some inexpensive editing software is making videos these days," says Robinson. "I thought it would be fun to see what people would come up with using songs from Music Bucket for inspiration."

Music Bucket is Robinson's second solo CD of hard-to-classify instrumental music, a follow-up to his 2004 Exotic America, which was chosen by George Varga, pop music critic for U-T San Diego, San Diego's daily newspaper, as one of the top ten debut releases of that year. Music Bucket features performances by Mike Keneally, Carlos Olmeda, Dennis Caplinger, Tripp Sprague, and other top-shelf West Coast musicians.

Robinson is known for blending instruments such as mountain dulcimer and kalimba with loops, electric and electronic instruments, and field recordings of junk pile percussion, in an attempt to surprise himself and the listener. "When you lower a bucket down a well, you don't really know what you're going to pull up. You might get a cool drink of water, or you might get a big green frog. I surprised myself a lot on Music Bucket, and I like to think I captured a joyful, upbeat vibe."

Aaron Carnes, a music critic for San Diego CityBeat, wrote the following in the weekly's local music issue: "You've got to love any album with dulcimers on it! This earthy, organic, feel-good instrumental music sounds like it was a lot of fun to make. Clearly, Robinson did a lot of overdubbing: There's tons of percussion, a bunch of different acoustic guitars, keys, synths and horns (and lots and lots of dulcimers). Play this on your iPod while you go for a hike in the woods and contemplate your purpose in life."

The Music Bucket Video Contest is open to anyone who purchases Music Bucket, as a CD or download. There will be a $250 cash prize for First Place and a $100 cash prize for Second Place. Entrants can choose any song on the album, and can enter as many times as they like. All suitable entries will be posted to YouTube with Robinson's critique.

Anyone is welcome to participate, regardless of experience, but creativity is the key to winning. "You can use footage from your grandpa's home movies, still photos of your pet tarantula, claymation - anything at all," adds Robinson. "There are no limits, aside from good taste, and even that is somewhat negotiable!"

Videos must be sent to robinsong5?aol.com in MP4 or WMF format on or before April 30, 2012. Videos posted to YouTube without Robinson's permission will be ineligible for prizes.

Music Bucket is available at www.CDBaby.com/cd/andyrobinson2, and also on iTunes. To see the official promo video for the contest, go to YouTube and type "Music Bucket Video Contest 001" in the search box. For more information, email robinsong5?aol.com or visit www.andyrobinsonmusic.com.
