Between June 18-22, 2003, SILVERDOCS: AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival will screen over 60 new and retrospective docs from around the world at the newly restored, state-of-the-art AFI Silver Theatre inside the beltway in Silver Spring, MD. A distinguished jury, chaired by Karen Cooper of Film Forum, will honor extraordinary films with Sterling Awards.

The festival?s proximity to Washington, DC puts SILVERDOCS in a unique position to engage the area?s filmmakers, international policymakers, journalists, issue experts, elected officials and activists, to explore, challenge and celebrate documentaries and the ideas behind them.
