Hello all!

After being out of film for too long, I've decided that I'm not going to get back into the game without a camera of my own. The only Canon XL1s and XL2s that I used to shoot on are now fairly obsolete. My producers have suggested the EOS 5D Mark II - I was wondering if any of you could give me any advise regarding this subject? Cinematography was never my strong point (that's what my DP is for! ;_;).

The arguement goes roughly as follows: it is an HD camera that will accept all Canon lenses for less than $5,000 (quite a bit less actually). I'm also about to start playing around at shooting a few models so the ability to have the 21 megapixel camera also seems nice.

Does anyone know about shooting with these? Did you find them awkward to use on set?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm still a college student and I had to budget FOREVER to be able to afford this pricey little bugger - I just don't want to end up dropping around six grand (after lenses, protection cases, etc) on something that will do the job less effectively than another piece of equipment.

It's a great camera especially after Canon's most recent 24p upgrade. I purchased the camera at the end of last year and we're in pre-production on a feature film now (where we plan on using the 5d as well).

i shot a short film on the 5d (before the 24p upgrade) which you can see here. We shot in low light and the video still looks pretty sharp.

I'd highly recommend the camera.

Best of luck!
