Ok well I have the Canon ZR 500 and the zoom button is messed. I can zoom in and all. But if I'm not holding it the zoom with start to zoom out by itself. Is there a way to fix this?

Sounds like you've got autozoom turned on.

Is there a way to turn that off. I dont think my cam has that function. its canon zr500

You sure can.
Menu -> camera setup -> D. zoom and zoom speed

i turned d zoom off and put zoom speed to variable and still it does it.
