A friend and I are going to buy a SGBlade 35mm adapter without the flip component. We are using a Canon XH-A1 which doesn't have a built in flip option. I'm thinking about purchasing a cheep portable DVD player and turning it upside down so we get the picture right side up. What do you guys think? Has anyone here tried this?
Can you feed video into a DVD player? If so it should work OK to show you what you're recording but obviously it won't be a calibrated monitor.

Any monitor will do. Ideally, your Cameraman/DP will know what he is doing. You should NEVER use a monitor to judge the photography. Monitors are generally only used to watch blocking, framing, and performance.
