So bout shoot a short, and getting all those things around,I set a budget around $500-700,cheap right....
well question is lighting equipment, some cheap ways to do some dirty tricks? I just purchased a hardware light set, with a tripod $25 cant beat it. I know some of you have where at this point some where down the line, where you had no money and you had to imporvise to get what you wanted....So what can I do for lighting, cheaply? have you ever used hardware lights for film? tricks,whatever..?

thanks

How about this:
A couple of work lights with stands from any home improvement
store.

Five or six ?scoop lights? - those clamp on work lights with the
silver reflector.

Three or four pieces of Foamcore from any art supply store to use
to bounce the light.

Two or three paper lanterns that you can get at Ikea. I hook each
one to a dimmer (home improvement store again) to get better control.

Some colored gels (check on line or if there is a small theater in your
town they often have extras) and some black wrap. Check Studio Depot.

A do-it-yourself Croney Cone made from foamcore and gaff tape can
be made to use as a gel holder, soft box and light shade.

Three things that can really help - a soft light on the face, a "hair
light" and lighting the back ground.

In this example there is a light in the corner (right at the ceiling) to
the left of this shot - a bounce board just under the camera to fill
some detail in the shadow - a light outside shooting through the
window on the side wall - a light with a "slash" made from black wrap
on the back wall - a light in the room that can be seen through the
door - a small light on the woman in the doorway and another
behind her aimed at the back of her head. A total of six lights to get
this shot.

Here it is in motion:

There are many different filters that do different things. Some soften the picture, some
reduce or eliminate glare, some absorb a significant amount of UV light, some diffuse
the image. Polarizing filters deepen the intensity of blue skies, Neutral Density filters
provide balanced exposures and eliminates overly bright, washed out images by absorbing
the light by several stops. Used properly filters can can change the overall image.

Gels are a colored transparent material used to change the color temperature or to
simply add color. Use a blue gel on the light spilling into the room and it feels like
night; use an amber gel and it can look like early morning or sunset.

Hi hoxienation, we've all been in that position before. Things that got me out of trouble before is using higher watt bulbs in the practicle lamps in the scene and bouncing light back in as much as possible.
