What could be the cause of a buzzing sound in a lav mic? The camera is an HF200. The lav is a cheap one...realizing the word cheap might be the reason, I checked this lav on youtube with testers and no one has the buzzing problem.
I can use a handheld mic hooked in the camera no problem but this lav stinks. I am desperately trying NOT to invest any more money into anything I do until I do it.

Which mic is it? That might help a bit. Also, how is the receiver connected to your camera? I have experienced buzzing when using 1/8" cords longer than a few feet. I eliminated this by using an adapter to run an XLR cable instead. Also, is it an indoor or outdoor shoot? And just to be sure, it's a constant buzzing noise not a popping sounds you might get from clipping?

Its a cheap lav thats for sure but has decent reviews on amazon. The cord is long...but what I am going to do tomarow is go to a place where I can try other lav's out with MY camera and see what it is.
I am close to 100% sure its something I am doing wrong.
Thanks

Please reply back with the make and model as I am in the market for a new mic. I might want to stay away from yours, lol.

Its an atr35s..I paid under 20 dollars for it so I wasn't expecting greatness of course. However it doesn't get bad reviews for its cheap price. I am guessing it has to do with something I am doing wrong...but I am going to test my own camera with the lav mics they have in the local studio here. If it is my camera then oh well to me I guess.
Their lavs are wireless while the atr35s wasn't. Don't know if that made a difference , I will find out anyway.

Okay don't get scared of this lav mic! It turns out it was me. This guy I saw has familiarity with my camera and apparently I had some setting wrong in it that caused the buzzing. When he tried out his 500 dollar lav mics in my camera it was buzzing! So he went into the menu and found something that meant mic/headset and changed the setting thus stopped the buzzing!
I went crazing with that buzzing forever. I went to different websites checking out their forums and asking anyone. I went on youtube...which gave the product good reviews for the price...but couldn't get an answer on the buzzing. I was told it had to with where I lived (picking up airwaves) to my dish on the roof...which I don't have...I was told it was a faulty product and camera...I was really suprised after all the research and asking no one with real camera know how couldn't suggest checking the menu on my camera and switching a setting..something so simple.
Clearly I am not a camera know how person..my love is in post but before I get to post I have to learn more about the camera.

Anyway, so check out the lav mic atr35 if your on a tight budget...and if you get buzzing come back here.
