DV cable

my camera didn't come with a dv cable to connect the camera to the computer. I have a HD camcorder, will any dv cable due or do i need a special type???

You didn't say which camera, so I had to look for your other posts to find out that you have a HDV camcorder. This means that you need a FireWire (1394) cable. It is my understanding that your Canon camcorder has a 6-pin FireWire port (rather than a more common small 4-pin). Depending on what kind of FireWire port your computer has, you'll need one of the following three:

6-pin to FW800 9-pin (if you have a newer Mac that only has the new, faster FW800 port)
6-pin to 6-pin (if you have an older Mac, or a desktop Windows PC)
6-pin to 4-pin (if you have a small 4-port FireWire; usually found on Windows laptops)

These are all common, garden variety and can be had for less than $10 on e-Bay (and other online stores).

thanks, yeah its a canon XHA1S and i have a brand new imac.
