Hi All,
I'm in a slight little state of confusion currently. I have been recenently filming a few things and would like some advice in relation to Shutter speed with a DSLR.
The Camera i am using is a Nikon D5000. In the upcoming year i will look into buying a full camcorder once i've saved enough money to buy one second hand.
The issue i'm having is this, the camera only shoots in 24fps. Now i will be filming mainly motorsport objects, so lots of panning movements beside a race track. Now i want a clean crisp image that looks professional and of course viewer friendly.
I use a tripod and a DSLR rig kit. So the stablisation is good. But i get lots of blur.
The settings i use is using shutter mode, and filming at 1/50 as thats close to 24fps x2.
Any advice would be good. I have been a photographer for about 5 years, but this would be a new venture in short film making
What shutter speed would you use to shoot photography with the same subject? Probably something very fast, with high ISO and wide aperture. Essentially, video isn't all that different.
Depending on the available light and the length of your lens, you'll need to figure out how much you will be able to open your aperture and how high you'll have to dial up your ISO in order to get fast enough an exposure to get clear images.
