I am going to be in a constant state of filming though and editing or I will need it regularly and renting isn't really an option as I'm not willing to pay however much per day as I need something permanent.

But I have narrowed it down to canon hf g10 or sony cx700 or panasonics new X900 so I thank you for the help so far

Ok.

Have you budgeted for a quality fluid head and quality tripod? I believe you mentioned having some kind of sound gear knowing that you should have the standard boom set up as well as lavs for those shots that don't allow for a boom overhead.

Is lighting in your budget including the units, bulbs, spare bulbs, extensions, generator(?), diffusion and color correction gels, and of course, stands and other mounting hardware for when a stand won't do?

Since this is digital capture, it is VITAL to have lots of harddrive space for multiple backups, so make sure you have budgeted for extra drives too.

Although I respect you for mentioning these things. I am in no way a professional and do no need this gear currently. However I will be getting a new tripod and I will get a fluid head in april sometime.

I do have 4 lights though which is enough for me at the time, obviously I have my eyes set on others but again this is going to have to wait for money to come in. I think for me it's the fact that I want to get out there and start shooting so that I can get a grip so when I do have the money, I can use with substantial knowledge to produce the best thing I can. And also I will be getting a new PC around May I hope as well, so everythings ok at the mo.

But I still haven't made my choice, it's looking like either the Canon HF G10 or Panasonic X900M.
