Hey guys, I've been reading this site for some time but never posted before. Thanks for all your help previously, and I'm hoping you can help me out this time too. I'm filming a short in a couple of weeks and I want to invest in some microphones. I've checked out this thread (?url? http://www.filmmaking.net/fnetforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7776?/url?) for some basic info, but I'm not sure what works well as a body mic. I might be able to attach some mics to the walls of one set I'm using, but I need (I think) to mic my actors on their bodies as well because I'm using a longshot in a small room and will probably not be able to get a boom into the room.
So, my question is twofold, 1)Which mics make good body mics? and 2) How do I mic their bodies so they don't break the mics while making out on top of each other?

if it's a static shot then you could split-screen out the boom as long as it doesn't cover the action. Or if the place where you're filming is very quiet then you could use a directional mic at quite a distance, and that would at least give you the guiding sound you need to redub it and put in foley sound.
Another issue with body mics is rigging them correctly so that you don't get fabric rubbing on the mic. My audio guys didn't get that right and I had to toss all the audio from the wireless mics. There was a thread on this board somewhere where someone explained how it can be done properly.
