What would be the best one to buy? From anyplace?

When you ask for "the best one" do you mean the best one you
can afford or do you mean the best stedicam available?

If it's the former, can you give us a price range? If it's the latter
you can't go wrong with the original "Steadicam" by Tiffen

Do-it-yourself is probably the most economic way to get a steady-cam type of device. For a lot less money (and some invested time and effort), you can build a camera stabilisation contraption that will do the trick well.

Tons of instructions out there. Just google it.
