I have been saving for sometime now in order to purchase a HD camcorder with professional capabilities in order to shoot music videos and documentary style entertainment shows. I have come across some UNBELIEVABLE deals online and at first thought it was legit, only to find out it was not. Basically I would like to spend around $1,200 for a good professional unit. I know this may be a low-ball but that is why I am asking for your advice and help as I am new to this. The Panasonic AGDVX100B was my first choice and I did find it online for $1,000 only to research the site selling it, and finding out it was a scam. ( http://www.camcordergenius.com/products.asp?product_id=10768). The second one I found that I can buy legit for around $1,200 is the Panasonic Pro AG-DVC20, but for some reason I feel like this is just a shoulder mounted consumer camcorder. :/
Hopefully this background information helped and some you guy can give me some sound advice on the product I need. Thank you in advance.
?:)?
Welcome to filmmaking.net!
First check http://www.resellerratings.com/ you'll see they are part of a large on line
group of "stores": NaviGenius - CloseoutGenius.com - AllPCGenius - CamcorderGenius
- CellularGenius - PlasmaGenius. It seems you already did this.
My advice is to check the prices at B&H PhotoVideo. They are a legit company with
excellent custumer service. They are not the cheapest on line, but they are reliable. If
you find an item for much less than them beware.
The DVX100B is a fine camera. I really like the DCV20, also. Your $1,200 price cap
is difficult. There are many, small cameras with all the esentials in that price range
but no pro HD cameras.

Well, good news. Just did my taxes on my own and I think I hit a small jackpot, now I can go look at the better models. 🙂
