Technology is advancing at crazy speed. i think its time we make as much use of it as we can. I thought it'd be a great idea to post links to our own or any interesting clips, trailers or whatever related to films...

here's my little tibit: its a film called Elvis and Anabelle

I am curious to know is Youtube a great way to get your film seen, I'm not quite familiar with how popular the site is and what it is really used for. Has anyone found success using this site? Is the internet the future for films?

I have a few of my videos on Youtube. They are nothing special, but being a college student in England, I am just still learning and such.

Very imprssive trailer, im very intriged about the whole film now ?:)?

I do think that the internet is the way forward for movies - no matter how big or small. However, i dont think youtube is the site to do it. I would like to see a better site like youtube especially for filmmakers. I just feel youtube isn't advanced enough yet. But its great for small first timers like me.

The problem with Youtube is it's own success. There are so many videos on there it becomes really hard to sort things out. If you categorize your video correctly that helps, but the real advantage is you can put your video up there and let them deal with the space, hosting and bandwidth costs. You can even set up your own webpage to show the Youtube linked video without your having to deal with the bandwidth either.

And I don't think youtube really uses any new technology. They simply take your posted video and translate it into macromedia flash for size reasons, and so to that everyone can view it despite OS differences and it's a bit more difficult to copy. They are simply the first to come up with the idea.

I expect Youtube will fail within a year or two over copyright issues.

Maybe. But then since Google bought and now owns youtube.com, there is quite a war chest of $$$$ to fight and control lawsuits, restructure youtube content/site to deal with copyright issues, etc. Google is quite a force to contend with. (I think the new Google Gears project has Microsoft scared. Who will pay for MS_Office when Google Gears provides a better alternative, as well as the free clone of MS_Office known as Openoffice. People might figure out eventually that it is stupid to pay for an operating system when Linux is free, and that it is senseless to pay for many software titles when there are 20,000+ free software titles available-- eg. see freshmeat.net or sourceforge.net)

Hate to hijack the thread, but Beowulf, do you use the free downloads from those sites? Because I'm always a little scared I'll download a virus, and if I lose my computer, I lose my ability to edit, and therefore make money to buy a new one. So I don't like taking chances with it, even though I'm cheap and don't like paying for software.
