My son is attending a 2-month workshop with the New York Film Academy at Oxford. He's looking for a way to post his short films online cheap, or preferably free. Does anyone know of a website where he can do that? Not really for distribution, just a place where he can invite friends and family to see his work.

Thanks

Try getting a website for him at Yahoo or Geocities for $5-$10 a month. Decide if it will give him enough disk space and bandwidth for his film(s). An mpeg file of video/sound is about 40 megs per minute. A streaming video file (.wmv or Quicktime) is smaller and requires about 5 megs per minute.

I run a free resource for independent artists to establish profiles and attach media to them. You get unique urls, full resume, post images, links, writing samples, headshots. The following link is for mine, attached are several trailers and movies we have released over the past couple years. We get over 10,000 unique visitors a month, a good way to get exposure and network with other filmmakers and actors.

I've recently discovered YouTube.

If you want it free and simple, it's the way forward!

I guess it's alot of website offer their big hosting
So he could put his work on website
But I recommended that if he has his own website
And buy 100mb for hosting
So he could put all his work for no charge at all

I think MySpace has a place to host videos now. It's free to join.

Hey,
MissingReel.com is a community website for filmmakers and directors. You can upload you films on the website, ?url?www.MissingReel.com?/url?, for free and keep it there for as long as you like. Just as a side point, every couple of months MissingReel awards the top three highest rated films a cash award but the site is not really a film competition but just a place to put your films and have a community with other filmmakers and directors. A place where they can critique your films and you can critique theirs. As an added bonus I have decided that I can give away cash prizes but it's more about uploading films and getting input from the public.
From,
Ezra
